Scuba Diving

The close by Mnemba Atoll is one of the best diving spots on Zanzibar and a natural marine reserve. With warm waters averaging 27C (80F) and good visibility, the sea around the island are awash with colourful marine life. Due to its popular location the fish are used to divers which allows you to get very close and appreciate their beauty. It is a stunning diving location for experts and beginners alike.

A popular destination for experienced divers is a sheer drop-off called the Big Wall which plunges steeply from 35m to 70m, dolphins and turtles are common sight here. Other sites include drift dives along the western edge, the lunar landscape of Wattabomi, and the fringing reef at Kichwani, whose corals grow just metres from the surface. Leven Bank – north of The Zanzibari, is an exciting spot for experienced divers with depths from 18 to 30 meters. Big game fish like tuna, king fish, barracudas, trevally, wrasses, big moray eels and large schools of reef fish can often be seen here.

We use a nearby 5 Star P.A.D.I. dive centre. For those wishing to try diving for the first time or qualified divers wishing to do courses it is all available at the centre. All the equipment is new and regularly serviced and will be provided for you at the dive centre. They use highly qualified dive instructors from around the world who speak various languages. The centre also has three dive boats two of which are modern powerful 22ft ribs. Transfers to and from the dive centre are also arranged free of charge.
