Eating at The Dhow Restaurant is a unique experience thanks to our magnificent centrepiece: an original Dhow that was carried into the restaurant to take up its new role as our bar.
Each piece of furniture in our restaurant is meticulously crafted from reclaimed Dhow wood, breathing new life into timbers that once sailed the Indian Ocean’s waters. The history and character of these woods are preserved in every grain, knot, and curve, creating a dining ambiance that is rich in both cultural significance and artistic beauty.

What sets this experience apart is not just the sustainable approach to design, but the fact that each piece of Dhow wood furniture is inherently unique. No two chairs or tables are the same, allowing you to dine amidst a collection of handcrafted masterpieces that tell a story of both the sea’s legacy and Zanzibar’s heritage.

We make full use of the wide variety of spices that are available on the island to produce delicious and unique dishes. Enjoy tender beef fillet steak, organic fruits and fresh fish caught the same day, all prepared by our high caliber chefs.

We serve fresh fruit, melon boat with yoghurt and honey, eggs cooked to order, omelettes, toast made with homemade bread, pancakes, banana pancakes, orange and cinnamon pancakes, beans, cheesy beans, sausages, fresh fruit juice, coffee and tea…you will not be disappointed!


For lunch or a light dinner, we offer a great selection of freshly prepared dishes – Healthy salads, super sandwiches, tasty pasta and rice dishes and our homemade pizzas.



The five-course dinner menu at The Zanzibari is different every day. The meals and most of the recipes were designed by our own chefs and are a fusion of European and traditional Zanzibari dishes. Dinner is included for guests on Half Board. You can also choose to have a special table setup for you in the privacy of the garden.


For your starter or a simple snack, we offer our signature coconut king prawns, tasty samosas and fishcakes and the best fries around. You can finish your meal with homemade ice-cream or dessert of the day.
